3D printing Filament Desiccant
Help protect your 3D printer filament from moisture during storage with silica gel beads and ready-to-use desiccant sachets. Use them inside well-sealed filament bags, storage containers and suitable dry boxes to help maintain a dry environment between prints.
Choose the right desiccant for your setup
Orange indicating silica gel beads: The orange indicating beads change towards green as they absorb moisture. Check their condition regularly and replace them when saturated.
Blue indicating silica gel beads: Change from blue towards pink as they absorb moisture, helping you monitor when they need attention.
Mixed indicating beads: Orange/white and blue/white blends combine moisture absorption with a colour indicator. The white beads absorb moisture without changing colour.
Ready-to-use silica gel sachets: A convenient option for filament storage bags and boxes, with no separate holder required. Keep sachets intact.
Using loose beads
Our loose silica gel beads are 2–4 mm. Place them in a suitable breathable bag or vented holder with openings small enough to retain the beads, then position it inside your sealed filament storage container. A bag or holder is not included with loose beads. Keep beads away from printer mechanisms and filament feed paths.
Keeping filament dry
Keep your storage enclosure tightly sealed and check the desiccant regularly. The amount required depends on the enclosure size, seal quality, surrounding humidity and how often it is opened. Indicator colour helps you monitor the desiccant’s condition;
